Metro developer 4A Games appears to be teasing its next game. The developer released two cropped images this week that show a hand gripping a weapon. Some people have suggested this could be a sci-fi game, since one of the images appear to show some form of holographic overlay.
These images were released on Facebook and Twitter. In both cases, 4A Games referenced hands in its captions, writing, “What are we making [?], well here is a hand to work it out” and “So there have been a lot of discussions and thoughts on what we are doing. So I was told to give you guys a hand.” You can see both images in the gallery below.
4A Games’ latest projects were the remastered version of Metro 2033 andMetro: Last Light for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Chief technical officer Oles Shishkovstov teased in a 2014 interview with Eurogamer that the studio is working on a “sandbox” game. “For the game we are working on now, our designers have shifted to a more sandbox-style experience–less linear but still hugely story-driven,” he said.
This summer, 4A Games confirmed it had two projects currently in the works, though the studio has not said anything about what these could be. Considering that the developer is now starting to tease at least one of the games further, it may not be long until we get official details.
Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light are based on Russian author Dmitry A. Glukhovsky’s novel, Metro 2033. The games were published by THQ, but after the company went bankrupt, Deep Silver parent company Koch Media paid $5.8 million to acquire the Metro franchise. It published the remastered versions, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux.
